Recessed lighting, what most people call can lights, is one of the most requested upgrades we do. They clean up the look of any room, provide better overall illumination than a single ceiling fixture, and when done with LED bulbs, they're highly energy efficient. Whether you want a row of can lights down a hallway, accent lighting in a kitchen, or a full living room layout, we handle the planning, wiring, and installation from start to finish. For existing homes, we use remodel-rated cans that can be installed with minimal drywall disruption, meaning you get new lighting without a major renovation mess.

New Home vs. Existing Home Installation

In new construction, recessed lighting rough-in happens during framing, we plan the layout with you or the builder and wire everything before drywall goes up. In existing homes, we use low-profile LED wafer lights or remodel cans that cut into the ceiling and get wired from above when possible. Either way, you end up with clean, professional results.

• How many recessed lights do I need per room?

  A general rule is one 4" or 6" recessed light per 4–6 square feet of ceiling space, but layout really depends on ceiling height, room use, and whether you want ambient or task lighting. We'll help you plan before we start.

• Do you add new circuits for recessed lighting?

  Sometimes, depending on how many lights are being installed and what's already on the circuit. We'll assess your panel and wiring during the estimate and let you know what's needed.

• Can recessed lights be put on a dimmer?

  Yes, and we strongly recommend it. Dimmable LED recessed lights give you a lot of flexibility for mood and function. We install dimmer switches as part of the job.
